Occupational Health Support Workers Programme

 This exciting new course, developed and delivered by clinical specialists from the Workplace Wellbeing team, provide clinical assistants in the remote environment with an introduction to occupational health, together with practical experience and understanding of health surveillance programmes such as lung function assessment; hearing assessment; dermatology; physiological measurements; and blood tests and their function.  Additional modules include vision screening, and rapid diagnostic testing.

This course aims to provide a practical and theoretical programme of study that meets the requirements of Workplace Health Monitoring and Assessment.

  • Legislation and organisational policy and procedures
  • Procedures and techniques
  • Records and documentation

 

Programme delivery

This programme will normally run over a three month period with weekly lectures provided throughout the duration of the course. Content is delivered through blended learning including key lectures, which may be provided at on line or via video link; and practical application of skills. Participants will also be expected to engage in self-directed study. *Usually provided as a five module programme, credit may be given for prior learning, additionally different modules may be selected based upon the specific requirements of the client.

Courses may be run in the United Kingdom or at international locations depending on client requirements, however in all courses learning will be achieved through:

  • Key lectures, and clinical skills teaching
  • Peer led workshops
  • E- Learning
  • Self -reflection

 

Working closely with you, our client, these courses are based upon your specific roles and requirements. An example of successful courses currently provided include those delivered to Oil and Gas Companies within Kurdistan

Who is this programme for?

The programme has been developed for clinical assistants and health support workers who need to perform routine workplace health screening as part of their role.

Entry qualifications

Participants are required to have a basic understanding of health care.

Assessment

Participants will be assessed by a variety of methods to include practical assessment, a multiple choice examination, and a Reflective Log.

  • The Certificate may only be awarded to participants who have successfully completed all elements designated as contributing to the award.
  • Participants are expected to achieve a 60% pass rate in each multiple choice examination, which forms part of the final appraisal for each module.
  • Owing to the practitioner nature of the programme, Participants will be permitted TWO attempts at practice elements of the programme.

 

Upon successful completion of the course the participant will be awarded the Workplace Wellbeing Occupational Health Support Workers Certificate.

Venue

Lectures and presentations are provided via Skype video conferencing with module content including all documentation, accessible via secure login to the Workplace Wellbeing SharePoint site.

Practical assessments can be undertaken at the purpose built training site in the beautiful countryside of Herefordshire, Overnight accommodation is available at a reduced cost for all Workplace Wellbeing delegates. Alternatively Workplace Wellbeing trainers will attend your location with all the equipment required to undertake training and practical assessment at your work location.
